The advent of new technologies for obtaining and analyzing data on the provision of infrastructure services allows old challenges in infrastructure sectors to have new solutions. FGV CERI, as an applied research center, relies on the multidisciplinary knowledge of its team to identify opportunities to develop cutting-edge knowledge of Data Sciences and apply them in order to contribute to the advancement of infrastructure and its regulation in Brazil.

The actions and research in Data Science developed by this Center are aligned with its interests in the sectors and themes in which it operates. Among the projects of the line of research in Data Science currently developed by FGV CERI, stands out the application of Machine Learning to improve the maintenance of energy distribution networks. This study aims not only to develop technical advances in the field work, but also to understand how the innovations provided by these techniques should be properly incorporated by the regulation of the provision of services dependent on network infrastructure: electricity, gas and sanitation.
